On Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF) Center for Sustainable Health Care Quality and Equity (SHC) Director of Quality Improvement & Equity and Co-Chair, Cancer Stage Shifting Initiative (CSSI) Kristen Hobbs, MPH, CPH, an American Cancer Society (ACS) National Breast Cancer Roundtable Steering Committee Member attended a White House Cancer Moonshot event hosted by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden with Special Guest and American singer, songwriter, and actress and Preventive Cancer Screening Advocate, Mary J. Blige and breast cancer and cervical cancer survivors.
ACS-led roundtables, held in response to President Biden’s relaunch of Cancer Moonshot, aim to accelerate progress across the breast cancer spectrum through strategic partnerships.
In May 2022, The White House announced private sector commitments with organizations like NMQF and its Cancer Stage Shifting Initiative (CSSI) to make progress on Cancer Moonshot’s goal to decrease the death rate from cancer by at least 50 percent over the next 25 years
CSSI’s mission is to move from late-stage to early-stage diagnosis and treatment of cancer in minority populations, with a special, but not exclusive, focus on people living with colorectal cancer. NMQF expects to reach an audience of more than 11 million patients, clinicians and other stakeholders monthly through its collaborations in advocacy and policy, social media communication, clinical research in underserved communities, representative data and quality improvement and community engagement.
The event was live-streamed and a recording is available on YouTube for viewing.
