The National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF) recently announced our new partners in our ongoing Cancer Stage Shifting Initiative (CSSI). Carolina BioOncology Institute and BioCytics have joined forces with NMQF to expand the reach and impact of this already-launched initiative aimed at addressing cancer care disparities in underserved communities.
CSSI, a multi-year program aligned with President Joe Biden’s Cancer Moonshot goal to reduce cancer deaths by 50% within 20 years, has been working to identify and remove barriers to cancer care in underserved regions.
With new efforts starting in Houston, Texas, and Flint, Michigan, the initiative continues to focus on improving access to early detection screenings, guiding patients to the best treatment options, and enrolling 100,000 participants in a nationwide clinical study over five years.
From Data to Action
The collaboration with Carolina BioOncology and BioCytics will support the creation of a national cancer registry and biorepository, gathering vital data to drive research on cancer risk factors and improve logistics for cancer detection and precision treatments. The biorepository will also enable better access to clinical trials and innovations, helping to ensure that underserved communities benefit from advancements in cancer care.
“The partnership with Carolina BioOncology and BioCytics is a significant step forward in expanding the reach of the Cancer Stage Shifting Initiative,” said Dr. Gary Puckrein, President and CEO of NMQF. “Together, we are working to bring data-driven solutions to cancer care disparities, offering hope for better outcomes in communities that need it most.”
