Every March, Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month highlights this disease and encourages people to get screened.
On March 13, Fight Colorectal Cancer – along with a community of patients, survivors, caregivers and advocates – rallied together on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for the United in Blue Rally to raise awareness for colorectal cancer.

For the event, 27,400 blue flags were placed on the National Mall to represent the people under the age of 50 who are projected to be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2030. In 7 years, colorectal cancer is predicted to be the leading cause of cancer deaths for those between ages 20 and 49.

The United in Blue installation was a tribute to the community of survivors, caregivers, and relentless champions of hope who have been and will be impacted by this disease, and also is dedicated to raising colorectal cancer awareness.

NMQF VP of Communications and Public Affairs Adjoa Kyerematen joined Fight Colorectal Cancer and advocates to raise awareness and honor and remember the community of colorectal cancer loved ones. At the rally, she highlighted the disparities in colorectal cancer rates and outcomes for Black individuals and discussed the work of our Cancer Stage Shifting Initiative.
